α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (α-CHCA) functions as matrix and helps in facilitating ionization of proteins and peptides in a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer.

Application

It was used as matrix in improving the detection of low concentration protein digests on MALDI-TOF.
