Methyl-ฮฒ-cyclodextrin participates in increasing the permeability of cells. It also plays a role in depolymerizing the actin cytoskeleton in cells. Methyl-ฮฒ-cyclodextrin is involved in attracting cholesterol from the plasma. It participates in activating extracellular receptor kinase in certain cells.
