General description
Consists of the HMG CoA reductase catalytic domain fused to GST protein.
Application
3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase human has been used:
- in anti-HMGCR enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
- as an antigen to measure anti-HMGCR antibodies by blot analysis
- in HMG-CoA reductase activity assays
- as an antigen to compare in-house antigen via sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE)/western blot
Biochem/physiol Actions
3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase/HMGCR serves as a rate limiting enzyme in mevalonate pathway. It also controls the oncogenic Hippo transducers TAZ/YAP. HMGCR also perform as a genetic modifier for Alzheimer′s disease (AD).
Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase catalyzes the committed step in cholesterol biosynthesis.
Physical form
Supplied as a solution containing 250 μg protein in 50 mM Tris pH 7.5, with 5 mM DTT, 1:200 Protease Inhibitor Cocktail (Catalog Number P8340) and 50% (w/v) glycerol.
Other Notes
One unit will convert 1.0 μmole of NADPH to NADP+ per minute at 37 °C.
Storage Class
10 - Combustible liquids
