General description
IRF1 is a transcription factor that is involved in the regulation of IFN and IFN-inducible genes. This transcription factor has also been implicated in the induction of NO synthase in macrophages.
Rabbit Anti-IRF1 (AB1) antibody recognizes bovine, canine, pig, human, mouse, rat, and rabbit IRF1.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human IRF1
Application
Rabbit Anti-IRF1 (AB1) antibody can be used for western blot applications at 1μg/ml.
Biochem/physiol Actions
IRF1 is interferon regulatory factor 1, a member of the interferon regulatory transcription factor (IRF) family. IRF1 serves as an activator of interferons alpha and beta transcription, and in mouse it has been shown to be required for double-stranded RNA induction of these genes. IRF1 also functions as a transcription activator of genes induced by interferons alpha, beta, and gamma. Further, IRF1 has been shown to play roles in regulating apoptosis and tumor-suppressoion.IRF1 encodes interferon regulatory factor 1, a member of the interferon regulatory transcription factor (IRF) family. Production of nitric oxide (NO) by macrophages is important for the killing of intracellular infectious agents. Interferon (IFN)-gamma and lipopolysaccharide stimulate NO production by transcriptionally up-regulating the inducible NO synthase (iNOS). Macrophages from mice with a targeted disruption of the
