General description

Cytotoxic concentration: 10,000 IU/ml penicillin, 20 mg/ml streptomycin
Penicillin (Penicillin G) inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting peptidoglycan synthesis. Streptomycin belongs to the family of aminoglycoside antibiotics, and inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis. Penicillin-Streptomycin is used for the prevention and elimination of bacterial contaminants in cell culture.
Penicillin G, sodium salt; streptomycin sulfate
Sensitive organisms:
  • Gram-positive bacteria (penicillin)
  • Gram-negative bacteria (streptomycin)
  • Stability:Penicillin: 3 days
  • Streptomycin: 3 days in media at +37 °C

Application

Penicillin-Streptomycin has been used for the prevention and elimination of bacterial contaminants in cell culture.
