Application

Potassium hydroxide (KOH) can be used:
  • To precipitate perchlorate ions after the addition of perchloric acid during the extraction of intracellular metabolites from yeast. It is also utilized to adjust the pH of the solution, ensuring optimal conditions for subsequent analysis.
  • In corrosion testing of anodized aluminium alloys to evaluate mass loss and corrosion resistance of the anodic layer.
  • To basify reaction mixtures, facilitating the derivatization needed for gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis in the identification of metabolic precursors.
