General description
Magnesium is the most common mineral found in the human body. It is a cofactor for more than 300 enzymes and is known to regulate physiological functions like blood pressure, muscle contraction, and neuromuscular conduction. It can be used in the preparation of many biomaterials with biomedical applications. Magnesium is widely used in the organic synthesis as an organomagnesium compound viz Grignard reagent.
Application
Magnesium can be used:
- To prepare 1,3-bis[2-(3-n-dodecylthienyl)]azulene, applicable as an acid sensor material.
- As a catalyst in the cleavage of tetrahydrofuran to 4-chlorobutyl esters.
- To prepare copper-based composite materials with improved mechanical properties.
Other Notes
Based on preparing 0.5 M solution of organomagnesium reagent and 40% headspace

The development of nanocarriers that selectively release guest molecules on sensing a particular biological signal is being actively pursued in nanomedicine for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Here we report a protein-based nanocarrier that opens in the presence of intracellular adenosine-5'-triphosphate
