General description
Sigma′s denaturing solution is a strong base that denatures double-stranded DNA so that it can be efficiently transferred to nylon membrane and subsequently hybridized to labeled probe. When used with a depurination solution, treatment results in the hydrolysis of the phosphodiester backbone at the sites of depurination, allowing for more efficient transfer of large DNA in neutral Southern transfers.
Application
Denaturation Solution is suitable for denaturing dsDNA before the transfer to membranes during Northern and Southern blotting procedures.
Other Notes
0.5 N NaOH, 1.5 M NaCl
The denaturing solutions is composed of 0.5N NaOH, and 1.5M NaCl.

The dwarf ucu (ultracurvata) mutants of Arabidopsis display vegetative leaves that are spirally rolled downwards and show reduced expansion along the longitudinal axis. We have previously determined that the UCU1 gene encodes a SHAGGY/GSK3-like kinase that participates in the signaling
