16:0-06:0 NBD PC (1-palmitoyl-2-{6-[(7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl)amino]hexanoyl}-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) has been used in NBD-phospholipid translocation assay. It may be used as a molecular fluorescent marker to label lipids during the friction tests, as substrate for enzyme substrate specificity determination and in the preparation of small unilamellar vesicles.

It is used for the quantification of the soluble and membrane-bound phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity. 7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl (NBD) derivatives are widely used as fluorescent analogs of native lipids in biological and model membranes to study a variety of processes.
