General description

Phosphoric acid (H3PO4) is one of the most important and useful mineral acids. It is used as a catalyst for various organic reactions. It is also used as an inorganic acid electrolyte for fuel cell applications.

Application

Phosphoric acid can be used as an activating agent for the activation of porous carbonaceous materials due to its ability to produce P-containing functional groups in the carbon matrix. These groups are excellent for promoting the formation of carbon micropores, which are useful for developing electrochemical energy storage devices.

Other Notes

Concentrated phosphoric acid is approx. 85% H3PO4 (aqueous).

Phosphorus-31 nuclear magnetic resonance (31P NMR) is used to investigate acid-labile phosphorylation of histone H4. 31P NMR detects phosphorylated histidine residues in in vitro enzymatically phosphorylated H4. The source of kinase is nuclei from either regenerating rat liver or Walker-256
