General description

Prostaglandin E₁ (PGE1) is a vasodilator.

Application

Prostaglandin E1 may be used in cell culture to protect human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) from injury induced by hydrogen peroxide.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Prostaglandin E₁ (PGE1) aids in the relaxation of corporal cavernosal tissue. It helps to preserve the patency of the ductus arteriosus. It is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).
