Application

  • Auxin regulates bulbil initiation by mediating sucrose metabolism in Lilium lancifolium: This study highlights the role of sucrose in regulating the initiation of bulbils in plants, facilitated by auxin signaling, demonstrating its significance in plant developmental processes (Xin et al., 2024).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sucrose is extracted from cane sugar or beet sugar. It is made up of glucose and fructose and is a good source of carbon and energy. In sugarcane plants, accumulation of sucrose is important in elongation of internodes. Thus metabolism of sucrose plays a major role in the growth of the sugarcane plant.
