19:0 Cholesterol ester is the central core of lipoprotein particles. CE formation is catalyzed by the enzyme lecithin cholesterol acyl transferase (LCAT).

Application

19:0 Cholesterol ester has been used as a quantitative lipid standard to monitor different lipid extract concentrations.

CE hydrolysis mediates reverse cholesterol transport in macrophage foam cells.
